Our pet walking and drop-in appointments are available in West Ashley, downtown, Park Circle, and Mt. Pleasant, and our overnight pet sitting and daycare appointments are available throughout Charleston and neighboring cities: Daniel Island, Folly Beach, Goose Creek, Hanahan, Hollywood, Isle of Palms, James Island, Johns Island, Kiawah, Ladson, Moncks Corner, Mount Pleasant, North Charleston, Summerville, and West Ashley.
At Mind Your Pees and Poos, we care for and love all kinds of animals! Including, but not limited to a: bird, bunny, cat, deer, dog, ferret, fish, guinea pig, gerbil, goat, hedgehog, hamster, owl, pig, rabbit, turtle, or unicorn!
At this time, we do not have anyone on staff who could responsibly care for horses, cows, snakes, spiders, or other large livestock and/or exotic pets.
We know your furry loved ones feel most comfortable in familiar surroundings, which is why we are happy to come to you and stay in your home for the duration of your time away. Alternatively, we offer in-home boarding at our team member’s home if you’d prefer.
Our caretakers will spend up to 24 hours per day with your pet. This includes providing food and water, administering any medications, pet walks as needed, backyard potty breaks, and unlimited snuggles! We are also happy to bring in the mail or packages and water plants as needed. Prior to overnight sitting, we will work with you to develop a custom caretaking plan. Any additional time over the 24-hour mark will be prorated. Example: Monday at 2 p.m. to Tuesday at 5 p.m. would incur a prorated charge for three hours.
Our pet sitters have remote full-time jobs which allow them to work-from-your-home (internet access is needed). That way, they are with your furry friends all day, rather than needing to leave to go to/from work.
No. Unless previously agreed upon, each client receives one caretaker per their furry family. We do not care for or walk different clients simultaneously, with the exception of our Slumber Party service.
If you live outside of our pet walking area and would like to book Mind Your Pees and Poos for pet walks or drop-in appointments, please contact us to see what is available.
Access to your home can be provided via a keypad code, extra key, or an alternate method of your choosing. We do keep all codes and keys secure for your safety.
A new client consultation is recommended for all families and their animals so that our care-takers can understand your pet’s special needs and quirks. There is no charge to set up a 15-minute meet-and-greet. All new clients will need to fill out an intake form before scheduling a meet-and-greet.
At Mind Your Pees and Poos, we understand that life and can be unpredictable, and things sometimes come up. While we don’t charge an initial cancelation fee for drop-in visits or pet walks, we do ask that you avoid canceling whenever possible so our caretakers can serve other families who need care. To respect our team’s time, each client may use up to three last-minute drop-in cancelations at no charge. After that, any last-minute cancelations less than 72 hours prior to the booking will incur a fee of 25% of each canceled drop-in or visit.
Overnight sitting and in-home boarding canceled more than two weeks after booking (for services scheduled within three months of the booking date) will incur a 25% fee, capped at $100.
For last-minute overnight sitting and in-home boarding (any stay scheduled within two weeks of the original booking date), clients must cancel at least 72 hours in advance or a 25% fee will apply, capped at $100.
Mind Your Pees and Poos is a Limited Liability Corporation, licensed and accredited through the City of Charleston. Because of the nature of our business, we do not have insurance coverage; carriers would have prohibited us from working with what they deem “aggressive” breeds, including American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Rottweilers, Doberman Pinschers, German Shepherds, Chow Chows, Akitas, Presa Canarios, Alaskan Malamutes, or Siberian Huskies. Additionally, we would not be allowed to care for sick or injured animals, nor would we be allowed to offer in-home boarding (as they consider this providing kenneling services). Even if we were to accept these carrier restrictions, because we are a small business, the additional costs would have to be absorbed in our service rates, which we are not comfortable with.
There are many reasons why our costs may, at first glance, seem to be higher than other sitters. Too many times we have heard stories of families booking a 30-minute walk with someone else, only to later discover their walker was onsite for less than 10-15 minutes. Or they no-showed completely. Or they left an overnight appointment hours early.
Our team of pet care providers is top-tier. We never cancel last-minute, leaving you scrambling to find a back-up sitter, we always leave your home in better condition than when you left, and we love animals more than anything — ensuring your pet is treated with the same love and care you provide them.
Additionally, many other providers schedule overnight appointments in 12-hour increments (for example: 8 p.m. — 8 a.m.), which means you would then have to add additional walks or drop-in visits throughout the day. Those extra charges wind up costing more overall than a 24-hour overnight with Mind Your Pees and Poos.
